Awareness Campaign: Responsible Disposal of Cigarette Butts

BinVincble is a Passion Project which aims to combat the problem of cigarette butt littering in a society where discarding cigarette butts carelessly is common and an accepted behavior. We are dedicated to raising awareness about this issue and encouraging responsible disposal.

Our approach seamlessly blends humor and education, motivating people to take simple actions. This practice not only benefits the environment but also offers direct advantages to offices and businesses by promoting sustainable practices, enhancing corporate social responsibility, and improving workplace cleanliness and image.

  • Background:
99% of individuals are unaware that cigarette butts are composed of plastic and can take up to 10 years to decompose. BinVincble aims to spread awareness by promoting a more sustainable and responsible approach to cigarette disposal.

    Target Audience:
    Office employees
    Corporate sustainability teams
    Facility management personnel

  • The idea revolves around the notion of "It's as dirty as you think." The intension for this approach is to be quirky, funny, yet positive, aiming to inspire action without burdening individuals.

  • The visual direction aimed for a clean, modern aesthetic with an emphasis on copy and data visualization. Throughout the campaign, colors such as blue, chrome yellow, and white were strategically used to symbolize both environmental awareness and the presence of cigarette butts.

The posters were printed on recycled paper made from discarded cigarette butts, illustrating the positive impact of the initiative, and a QR code that directs you to a dedicated website that details the process of recycling them into papers.

To facilitate accessibility and engagement, corporate and businesses could directly purchase posters and disposal bins from the website.

Additionally, attention-grabbing GIFs were created for social media platforms to further promote the initiative and encourage participation in responsible cigarette disposal practices.

The primary motivation for smoking often revolves around stress relief. People tend to tune out warnings about climate change because they perceive them as overly serious and daunting. To capture people's attention effectively, quirky messaging that engages without causing stress, accompanied by clear calls to action was developed.
